What I Love About Cody

I didn't get a chance to write my favorite things about Cody at 1 year old on his birthday post, so this is a post dedicated to my little Co-co-wee-uh!

I LOVE....

how cool he thinks he is when he sits on the fireplace, which he does all day long!

that he is a daddy's boy.

the noises he makes when he wakes up in the morning. It sounds like he is rolling his tongue.

that he sleeps in until 8:00 am!

that he has to play with his or my eyelashes when sucking on his binky or bottle.
that he gives butterfly kisses.

that when I give him butterfly kisses, he just sits so still with his cheek on my eye.

the new bum scoot he has learned. He looks like a gorilla.

how excited he gets to eat. For the first five minutes of a meal, I can't get it in fast enough.

to see him take his first steps. He gets so excited he makes himself fall down.

how scared he is of big animals. He holds on to me so tight.

reading books with him. He just sits there and smiles.

how he scoots as fast as he can to Ty's room when he hears his voice in the morning.

how he snuggles at night when I put him to bed.

the look he gives me when I try to take his picture, or when he is in a bad mood.

Happy Birthday Cody!

We just got home from a fun family reunion with Ryans family, and tomorrow morning at 9 am I have to be to church for my brothers homecoming, but I couldn't go to bed without leaving this post for my sweet Cody. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He is 1 year old!!!!! He is the sweetest little boy and I love him so much. He took his first steps up at our family reunion and he is going to be cruising around in no time! This year has flown by! I have a lot more to say about my little guy, but I will do that a little later. For now, here is my birthday boy......
Here he is 1 year ago, just a few minutes old.
And here he is today. Going for a hike with his Daddy and big brother. We love you Cody!

A Rant

I decided this is a good way to get some frustration out. I just had an experience that I can't seem to let go tonight. So I thought maybe if I tell my story here I will feel better. So, here goes.....

I was out running 2o different errands this afternoon, and my last stop was Smith's Marketplace. When I pulled into the parking lot, it was super busy and I was trying to work my way around everyone to find a parking spot. I admit I was in a bit of a hurry because of hungry, cranky kids, so I wasn't doing my best driving. I started to turn a corner when I realized there wasn't enough room for two ways of traffic, and there was already a car coming towards me, so I backed up and let the car go by.
As the car got closer, I noticed the lady in the car staring me down and her mouth was moving with what I interpreted as very bad cuss words. She then proceeded to flip me off rather aggressively and held it like that the whole time she passed, which was very slowly. I was shocked! This was a lady probably in her late 50's. I have seen this behavior in young boys, but not grown women. That is probably why I was so upset by it. I pulled into my parking spot and noticed she parked just a few cars down. Now let me say, I am a VERY SHY person and usually just keep to myself, but for some reason tonight I couldn't resist calling this lady out. As she walked by I apologized for pulling out in front of her, but I also told her that her behavior was really immature, especially in front of my little boys. I thought maybe she would ignore me, maybe apologize back, but she didn't. Instead she told me, "You know what that was, that was you being really STUPID, and not paying attention."

I said no, it was just a simple mistake and I am sure you have made similar mistakes in your life. Apparently she hasn't and she also told me she would NEVER drive like that with small children in the car.

I just said back that I would never flip somebody off for making such a simple mistake. (Can I just throw in here one more time that I just turned the corner and she was coming towards me, we were no where close to an accident or anything serious. I am so confused.)

Anyway, she responded to my last remark by telling me to f*** off. Are you kidding? We parted ways after that, but ended up running into each other again at which point she called me a bad mother.

She obviously had a really bad day. I have never met anyone so bitter and ornery in my life. I hope I never cross her again. I am still so shocked and upset by her behavior. I was probably out of line too, but she was WAY out of line.

Anyway, there is my rant for today. I do feel a little better.

The Party

Ty had an awesome birthday party. We had family over for cake and ice cream. He was so cute the whole night. He was so excited! Grandma and Grandpa Thompson called from Tonga right before the party to wish him a Happy Birthday. He felt pretty special!
I decorated the table with everything Blues Clues and his presents. Here he is getting his first look. Ty requested a Blues Clues cake which actually turned out to be pretty hard to find. I wasn't feeling ambitious enough to make one myself. Albertsons had two left, so that is what we went with. He loved it!
For Ty this cake thing was pretty awesome. Put candles, blues clues and cake together and there is nothing better in his eyes. He was concentrating pretty hard on blowing those candles out.

Our families are so supportive and everyone came to celebrate with Ty and everyone brought presents. Ty was so spoiled!
Gabby is one of Ty's best buddies. She is so good to him. She helped him with all his presents.
Here are some of the fam. Look how cute little Meg is holding Gage. She is getting so big and she is so cute with the younger cousins.

Dusty, Melissa and Summer-roo! (and almost Mandy, I can't wait!)

Sarah and Curtis

And the highlight of the night, although I think the whole night was a highlight, was Ty's walking train whistle. That is one thing he has been asking for for a long time. It is a game we play at his Gymboree class. He was SO excited when he opened it. He made all of us do walking train with him the rest of the night. We got a video of it and it is hilarious. You can hear Ty singing at the top of his lungs. He is such a sweet boy! I can't believe he is 3!

I had to throw one more picture in of Cody "helping" me with the dishes. He loves the dishwasher right now. He is more fond of taking things out then putting them in which makes it hard some times. Isn't he cute though?
