Ty got sick again! I thought we were doing really well, but then a little virus snuck in on us. It wasn't too bad in the beginning, just a lot of messy diapers. But then he started to throw up. This happened last Thursday. My sweet sister Sarah was babysitting for me for a few minutes in the afternoon. It was supposed to be a really easy babysitting job. Ty was taking a nap. Sarah had just had her wisdom teeth out, and I felt bad asking her to babysit, but it was just for a minute, and Ty was asleep, so I thought it would be okay. Well right after I left he woke up with a huge messy diaper that Sarah had to change, along with all his clothes. Then she brought him out to the living room, at which point he threw up everywhere. I came home just as Sarah had finished cleaning everything up. I felt so bad for both Sarah and Ty. Hopefully she will forgive me someday.
That wasn't the end of the fun though. About 8:00 that night, Ty started throwing up again. He kept throwing up about every 10 minutes for the next 2 hours. He finally fell asleep, only to wake up an hour later throwing up again. I kept trying to give him tiny sips of gatorade every few minutes, but every teaspoon I got in him came up 5 minutes later. I realized that Ty had not had a wet diaper since 4 that afternoon, and I got a little nervous. I woke Ryan up, and from 2:00 am until 4:00 am, we tried to get him hydrated. The doctor on call had told us to give him a tablespoon of gatorade every 5 minutes, and if he didn't have a wet diaper after 12 hours he needed to be seen. That was a lot of work. Ty would scream every time we tried to give him a drink. Finally at 4:30, he still had not had a wet diaper, and we were all worn out. We decided to take Ty up to Primary Children's Hospital so he could get an IV and get some fluid in him. Ty wasn't a big fan of this. It was really sad, they wouldn't let me be in the room while they gave him the IV, so I could just hear him crying for me. He did a good job though. We were really glad that he had that IV, because he refused to eat or drink anything the whole next day. Poor Ryan still had to go to work all day on Friday, despite having had no sleep. Finally on Saturday, Ty started eating again, and hasn't thrown up again since.

This is Ty being brave at the hospital. His IV had just finished. This picture is taken on a cell phone, so it isn't the best picture ever.
