Lunchtime....Cody Style

Here is how Cody enjoys the aforementioned strawberries

He has decided one at a time just isn't fast enough.
P.S. These pictures make me feel horrible right now. I am a bad mother! Ty wanted to get his hair cut today, so I decided to take both the boys. Well, Cody wasn't having it, so I brought him home thinking I could just try and do it myself. I couldn't. I did a horrible job, and to make it even worse, I cut his ear in the process. I was trying to cut around his ear and he moved and ouch! It gives me the chills to think about. I feel awful.

Yummy Strawberries

Ryan deserves mega points for the delivery he sent me on our anniversary. Look how yummy....

5 Years!?!?

What is crazy about this is how fast these last five years have gone! September 24, 2003, Ryan and I were married. Now today we are celebrating our fifth anniversary. We have had some good times along the way. Here are a few highlights.......

The engagement

The wedding day

The honeymoon, where we apparently took NO pictures

Alaska-3 times!

Hawaii, twice

First baby

New mom
First family trip to Moab
Snowmobiling in Yellowstone
Lots of Lake Powell trips
One which resulted in us getting a new car
Our first house
Lots of Utah games
Lots of baby horses and horseback riding
Adding our sweet little Cody
And endless amounts of yard work. It has not all been fun and games, there has been a lot of hard work too. We remember the highlights the best, and look forward to lots more playing! I love you Ryan! Happy Anniversary!

Georgia Lullaby

Ty sang this song to me the other night, and it melted my heart. I have been singing it to him since he was a baby. It never seemed to be one of his favorites, but is was one of mine because my mom sang it to me when I was little, and her mom sang it to her when she was little. I didn't know he knew the words so well. This is so sweet!

And just because I feel like I haven't posted much about Cody lately, here is a video of him. Although he is definitely not a performer. He doesn't do anything upon request. So mostly it is just him running around.

Mr. Independent

What do you get when a 3 year old dresses himself.......
Notice the pants are on backwards. I was actually impressed that he tried to put a belt on, and that he chose a matching hat. What you can't see is he chose a pair of my shoes to go with it. Ryan and I died laughing when he walked in the kitchen. I am excited he is finally trying to dress himself, even if I do have to go out in public with some interesting outfits.

Fish, Fish and More Fish

Ryan and I just returned from another great trip to Ketchikan, Alaska. This year did not disappoint as far as numbers of fish in the area. We caught more than enough, and they were HUGE!!! Ryan has a client that owns 3 fishing lodges in the Ketchikan area, so Ryan goes every year, and I have been 3 times now. It is such a beautiful place. Ryan actually let us stop fishing one afternoon and go for a little hike in search of bears. We didn't find any, and I will be honest, I was a little relieved. We did find beautiful surroundings and billions of fish in the river. We love it up there, and can't wait to go again. We have to eat all the fish we brought home first, so if anybody wants some salmon or halibut, let me know. Thanks to my mom and dad for watching my little babies. I missed them so much, but they were in good hands, and spoiled rotten! Here are some pictures from our trip.

Warning: These pictures are not for those with a weak stomach. (Kat, that means you.)

Ryan caught this big guy on our last day there. He said it was the biggest coho salmon he has ever seen, so we had to get a photo. This guy was hard to get in the boat. He was strong! We call these little fish "shakers". They are baby king salmon, and their eyes are always bigger than their stomachs. We catch so many of these things. The bait we are using is about the same size as this little guy, but he went after it anyway. I thought it was pretty funny that he still had it stuck in his mouth. Don't worry, I got the hooks and the huge bait out of his mouth and he swam away.
We went out on a charter to catch some halibut, and I was the "lucky" one to catch this 9o lb. halibut. Catching halibut is like pulling a wet mattress up off the ocean floor with a fishing rod. They are so heavy! My arm was sore for days after.
Here I am with my halibut again. These things are sure ugly, but they taste so good!
Okay, I'll admit it. I couldn't do it by myself. Ryan had to help me pull this monster up, so I had to get a picture with him too. :)
Here I am fighting a silver salmon. This fish took me about 15 minutes to get to the boat. He didn't want to come. I don't blame him.
No bears. Phew! I didn't want to get eaten. Although I was told over and over again how the bears had so many fish to eat they wouldn't be interested in me. I wasn't convinced. I was scared to death! It was a beautiful hike though. Sadly, this is my only photo.

The boys, after a good day fishing.
